Use these before you sign. If the answers are vague, the job will be vague.
- What are we trying to see, and at night? Ask for a camera-by-camera purpose, not a count.
- Where is the drawing? A bid without a site or floor plan is a guess.
- Who pulls cable, and to whose spec? If “we’ll figure it out on site,” budget more.
- What is the PoE and storage math? Watts per camera. Days of retention. Written.
- If there is a wireless hop, who surveyed the path? Photos of both ends, not a product distance chart.
- What happens at commissioning? A punch list you can walk, including passwords and a backup of the config.
- Who services this in year two? If the answer is only a phone number on an invoice, keep looking.
