A useful survey is a short packet, not a novel.
Both ends
- Photos toward the far end from the proposed mount.
- Roof, wall, or pole construction — what you can actually lag into.
- Power available (AC, existing PoE, none).
- Grounding and surge path, even if it is “we need to add it.”
The path
- Distance (map is fine; a rangefinder is better).
- Trees, buildings, and anything that might grow or get built.
- Frequency constraints if the site is noisy or licensed.
The LAN
- What the hop is for (cameras, office, both).
- Switch and VLAN on each side.
- Throughput you actually need, not the radio’s brochure max.
If you cannot collect this, send us the photos and a pin on a map. That is enough to say whether a hop is plausible before you spend on dishes.
