Guest Wi-Fi is not a camera backbone

Consumer mesh and a shared SSID will record until they do not. Cameras belong on a designed path.

We still see recorders hanging off the same network a house uses for streaming and phones. It works until the mesh node hops, the SSID is renamed, or someone “fixes Wi-Fi” over a weekend.

Cameras and access control get a VLAN (or at least a dedicated switch and addressing plan) and a path that does not depend on a consumer app. Guest Wi-Fi can exist. It should not carry the recorder.

If wireless is the only way to a barn or a gate, that is a point-to-point or a short bridge with a written path — not another node on the family mesh.
